A first taekwondo class is a chance to find out whether the instruction, atmosphere, and schedule suit you. You do not need to arrive knowing Korean terms, wearing a uniform, or performing a high kick. MOD welcomes beginners, and its free trial is designed to introduce the class before you decide about enrollment.

Pack for movement, not performance

Wear comfortable activewear such as a T-shirt with sweatpants or shorts, and bring a water bottle. Students participate barefoot. No uniform purchase is required for a trial. Choose clothing that lets you bend your knees and raise your arms without adjusting it constantly.

Arrive 5–10 minutes early so an instructor can help you get oriented. Tell the team about an injury, a concern, or anything that may affect participation before class begins. Parents are welcome to stay and observe.

What the class introduces

MOD's trial guide describes warm-ups and basic martial arts techniques. Children's classes also include games and drills that practice focus, discipline, and respect. Your job is to listen, try the instruction, and ask when something is unclear—not to keep up with students who have trained for months.

A useful first-class goal is learning one movement and understanding one classroom expectation. That is a better measure than comparing your flexibility with someone else's.

Questions worth asking afterward

  • Which class fits my age and starting experience?
  • Which days could I realistically attend?
  • What are the current membership and uniform options?
  • When would equipment become necessary?
  • Who should I contact if I have questions before the next visit?

Classes typically run 30–45 minutes depending on age and level; confirm the particular session when booking. Review the trial guide and available dojangs, then choose the class that fits. If you are deciding between locations, use the location pages to compare addresses, instructors, and schedules.
