Private Taekwondo Lessons or Group Classes: Which Fits Your Goal?
When to ask about one-on-one coaching, what goals to bring, and why private lessons do not guarantee a belt or competition result.

A group class and a private lesson solve different learning needs. Group training provides a shared session and opportunities to practice in a class setting. One-on-one coaching allows a focused conversation about a particular skill or concern. Choosing between them begins with defining what you need help with.
Bring a specific goal
MOD's private-lesson program lists personalized attention, testing preparation, competition preparation, and catch-up training as possible uses. Rather than asking to improve everything at once, identify the issue: a sequence you forget, a correction you do not understand, or material you need to review after time away.
A concrete request helps the instructor discuss whether a private lesson is appropriate and what can realistically be addressed.
Do not confuse attention with a guaranteed result
Individual coaching can concentrate on your starting point, but it does not guarantee a faster rank, a passed test, or a tournament placing. Ask what you should practice afterward and how the work connects with your regular class.
If you have an injury or limitation, describe it and seek appropriate professional advice when needed. A private setting does not automatically make every exercise suitable.
Ask about the arrangement
Private lessons are listed at all four MOD dojangs. Confirm the instructor, available time, current cost, and session expectations directly with the team. A group-trial calendar is not necessarily a private-lesson reservation.
If you are brand new, a group trial may help you understand the program before deciding whether one-on-one coaching is needed. If a group environment is a concern, explain that when contacting the team.
Explore the private-lesson page and locations. New students can review free-trial options; for a private session, ask the team how to arrange it. The useful choice is the format that addresses the actual goal—not the format that sounds more advanced.
